Cognite, a Norwegian technology company specializing in industrial energy sector software, made its American debut at WeWork Austin, drawing inspiration from the vibrant coworking environment for their new office in the Domain. Infusing the fun, eclectic Austin vibe with their established branding colors and typography, the space offers a visually dynamic experience. Balancing cost-consciousness with unique design, is critical for startups, resulting in a colorful environment reflecting their branding. Nuances of the energy industry, juxtaposing clean and 'dirty' power sources, are woven throughout the design. Phone booths, nestled in niches with blue accent paint and expanded metal panels, evoke the walkways of an oil rig. The main breakroom features graffiti tile juxtaposed with clean casework and a playful backsplash, blending WeWork's funky vibe with nods to infrastructure. To address sound absorption in the open office plan, concrete floors and ceilings, white linear lighting, and black linear baffles play off each other, mirroring their disappearing typeface branding.
