Project Manager – Interiors

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Austin, TX (Monday–Thursday Onsite, Friday Optional)

Sixthriver is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Project Manager to join our growing Interiors team. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership and communication skills who is passionate about design and the successful delivery of high-quality projects. You’ll lead coordination efforts across disciplines, manage schedules and budgets, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the full project lifecycle.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and oversee all phases of a project, including design, documentation, code analysis, bidding, specifications, construction administration, and FF&E as needed.

  • Lead and track project budgets, fees, schedules, and staffing using project management tools.

  • Develop and maintain internal and external project schedules and budgets, ensuring milestones and financial targets are met.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering alignment and transparency through strong communication.

  • Coordinate across disciplines with consultants, contractors, vendors, and in-house design teams.

  • Provide both strategic and tactical guidance to architecture and interiors teams.

  • Lead quality assurance reviews at each phase to ensure clarity, constructability, and alignment with design intent.

  • Identify and resolve design and constructability challenges during both design and construction phases.

  • Manage permitting efforts, ensuring compliance with life-safety, building, and accessibility codes.

  • Mentor junior staff and promote knowledge-sharing across the team.

  • Contribute to a variety of project types, including interior and architectural scopes.

  • Local and occasional regional travel may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in interiors or architecture, with at least 3 years in a project management role.

  • Experience in commercial project types.

  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Strong understanding of permitting processes, building codes, and construction documentation.

  • Excellent leadership, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Positive attitude and a strong contributor to team culture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified or pursuing professional certification.

  • Experience with ground-up architecture or exterior design.

  • Experience with medical projects.

Intermediate Interior Designer

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Austin, TX (Monday–Thursday Onsite, Friday Optional)

We’re seeking a passionate and creative Intermediate Interior Designer to join our Interiors Studio! This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of exciting commercial projects, collaborating closely with senior team members and clients from concept through completion. If you're ready to deepen your design expertise, take ownership of meaningful work, and thrive in a collaborative, design-driven culture, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Project Managers and/or Senior Designers through all phases of design, including pre-design, design development (DD), construction documentation (CD), construction administration (CA), and FF&E.

  • Actively engage in the design process with internal teams, clients, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and vendors.

  • Review interdisciplinary drawings and clearly communicate design intent.

  • Assist with material sourcing, concept development, constructability reviews, and project goal execution.

  • Translate creative concepts and technical information into compelling presentations and clear documentation.

  • Assist with code review and compliance under guidance from senior staff.

  • Take ownership of smaller projects as Lead Designer, managing all phases from conception to completion.

  • Participate in construction administration, including reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, and attending OAC meetings and site visits.

  • Provide peer support and mentorship to Junior Designers, including redlines and design development feedback.

  • Contribute to a positive, design-forward studio culture.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

  • 4+ years of experience in an interior design role, with a track record of contributing to successful built work.

  • Experience in commercial project types.

  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Familiarity with building codes, detailing, and construction documentation.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams.

  • Positive attitude and strong collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NCIDQ certification or in progress.

  • Experience with space planning and test fits.

  • Experience in multi-family and/or medical projects is a plus.

  • Comfort with CA responsibilities under senior guidance.
